CNC Machine Operator
Position Overview:
The CNC Machine Operator will load and operate a computer controlled machine that mills steel and aluminum to create precision industrial components. The CNC machine is setup and programmed by more advanced technicians. With this Machine Operator position, the primary task will be keeping the machine running efficiently and continuously: parts must be loaded, the machining program must be run successfully, and new parts re-loaded into the machine.
Primary Activities:
- Operate CNC machines, including horizontal and vertical mills and lathes. Should be familiar with a wide range of production operations.
- Read and interpret complex prints, draw sketches, make recommendations for correcting prints
- Select appropriate machine speeds and feed rates, set up job according to prints and set-up procedures, and change/adjust fixtures
- Contribute to improvements in production, service, quality, and safety
- Work closely with many departments at one time to complete products on-time and within specifications
- Ensure that quality performance meets or exceeds customer expectations
- Ensure that all communication channels are used to quickly and accurate share information
- Ensure accuracy of inventory transactions, complete documentation associated with each job, determine whether tooling/fixtures are available or find approved substitutes
- Perform in-process inspection
- Have the flexibility to work in other departments as cross trained and required
- Be safety conscious

- Able to communicate effectively (verbal, written and active listening) at all organization levels and functions
- Good math, measurement and written/verbal comprehension skills

Foundry Technician - Caster
Position Overview:
This position is in the foundry portion of the CAS manufacturing facility, where technicians use specialized machines to create the initial shapes for our products. Technicians will operate and manipulate electric melting furnaces, casting machines, mold components, crucibles, and motion control devices. Attention to detail is very important and the position requires proper use of quality control tools such as micrometers, ohms meters, and machine control panels.
Primary Activities:
- Follow proper casting & foundry-related processes to produce quality parts
- Work with molds, low-pressure casting machines, and tilt-pour machines
- Interface with computer controlled and manually-controlled industrial machines
- Ensure all components that go into a mold (heaters, tubes, etc.) are prepared and at the proper work station
- Use an ohms meter to measure and test the resistance of the electric heaters that go into our products
- Work with our in-house computer program to note part counts and document job completion
- Have the flexibility to work in other departments if needed
- Read and follow all relevant process data sheets
- Ensure that all communication channels are used to share information quickly and accurately
- Complete inspection of parts after they are cast
- Be quality conscious and be safety conscious
Desired Competencies:
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written, along with active listening) with co-workers at all levels of the organization
- Knowledge of measuring tools (i.e. scales, calipers)
- Mechanical aptitude
- Ability to read and understand prints, drawings, charts, graphs, shop paperwork
- Ability to understand quality specs
- Solid understanding of basic math: fractions, decimals, conversion of measurements
