Cast Aluminum Solutions Wins Manufacturer of the Year!

Cast Aluminum Solutions (CAS) was recently honored with a Manufacturer of the Year Award by the Alliance for Illinois Manufacturing (AIM). Representing Kane County, as part of the Making Manufacturing Matter initiative, CAS accepted the award at a gala ceremony at the Marriott Hotel on Michigan Avenue in Downtown Chicago.

The ceremony was attended by Governor Bruce Rauner and VIPs from the manufacturing, finance, and municipal sectors. Rick Ahern, Chief Operations Officer at CAS, accepted the award for the company, backed by members of the CAS Leadership Team, and Mike Flint of LV2 Equity Partners. Theresa E. Barreiro and Rebecca Gillam, of the Kane County Board of Directors, also supported CAS at the banquet.

Several factors impacted CAS’s nomination and eventual win. The nominating committee was pleased that CAS manufactures such precisely-engineered components, including pedestal heaters for the semiconductor market, jet fuel circulation heaters for the aerospace industry, and commercial heating fixtures for the commercial food industry. The fact that CAS has a strong reach worldwide, with penetration into several overseas markets, was also an important consideration. But the factor that put CAS ‘over the top’ is the way it approaches employee advancement and training: the nominating committee was very pleased with our approach.

Rebecca Gillam, Chairman of the Kane County Jobs Committee explained, “The county's Development and Community Services Department developed a list of nominees that have a reputation for leadership, a focus on technology and community involvement. Cast Aluminum Solutions, like the other nominees, has partnered with local universities and training facilities to offer internships, jobs and training programs.”

CAS has a long history of collaborating with local universities and training centers, and these outlets are often utilized to help current CAS employees advance. According to Rick Ahern, COO at CAS, “we make every effort to promote from within, giving existing employees the chance to grow their skills via workshops, training programs, and coursework. Our success is built on innovation and intelligence, but you have to create the proper environment for those things to flourish.”

Other nominees for the Kane County Manufacturer of the Year include AmeriChem Systems, ASK Productions, Custom Aluminum Products, Freudenberg Household Products, Mitutoyo America, Multifilm Packaging, Otto Engineering, PartyLite Worldwide, Rig Source Inc., and Vegetable Vitamin Foods Company.
